La Marche du vent is a commemorative path created for the town of Lac-Mégantic. The town sadly gained notoriety on July 6, 2013, as a freight train derailment of 72 crude oil tank cars caused a massive fire within its downtown area; an ensuing blaze led to the loss of 47 lives.
As the town rebuilds, La Marche du vent is a narrative path that aims to reconnect Lac-Mégantic to its new town centre. Under the theme ‘Reinventing the city’, the projects aim is to gather, to amplify the existing, and to imagine the future.

In the autumn of 2014, the exhibition Structuralism opens in the big exhibition hall of Het Nieuwe Instituut. The exhibition focuses on Dutch Structuralism, a movement in architecture in the late '50s and early '60s that renounced the technocratic planning that characterised the post-war reconstruction of the country. Instead, its proponents asked space for the poetic and emotional aspects of architecture, in order to come to a truly dignified living environment.

AnG 3 – Soko Klima, Stadt gestalten mit Plan. Parallel to developing the Campus Efeuweg project, the Chair for Urban Design and Urbanization teamed up with kubus TU Berlin, UfU e.V. Berlin and ifeu Heidelberg. Funded by the Ministry of Environment, the project Soko Klima developed a toolbox to teach climate conscious urban development and participation for first and second grade education. How can design impact the way we life in cities and respectfully use our resources? How can kids and teenagers engage in the design and the politics of the urban? The toolbox was developed on the basis of the workshops held and experiences gained during the Akademie’s Campus Efeuweg project.
The first image shows part of the material of the toolbox. The second image is a snapshot of the design workshop of the Walt-Disney school and Liebig school common schoolyard.

AnG 2 – Campus Efeuweg. The Akademie’s first introduction into Gropiusstadt was a cooperative design project with an educational association - schools, youth and sport facilities along the Efeuweg. In order to facilitate an educational reform that encompasses a stronger cooperation between the institutions and the requirements of whole-day schooling, they aimed at developing a common campus for the students and the neighborhood.
